After leaving Phantasma, Ophelia walks back to Grimm Manor still unsettled by the imprisoned stranger’s warning. On the road home, her intrusive Shadow Voice escalates her fear by insisting the manor will collapse if she does not return in time. The panic drives Ophelia into a run, and when she trips near the gates, blue sparks burst from her palms for the first time. Even after forcing herself onward and reaching the house, she is left shaken by both the episode and the glimpse of her newly inherited magic.

Inside Grimm Manor, the blood on Ophelia’s hands triggers a breakdown because it recalls Tessie’s corpse and her fight with Genevieve. She scrubs her palms raw in the kitchen sink and then desperately searches the house for her sister, apologizing and begging Genevieve not to leave her alone. No one answers. Ophelia finally gives up, bathes, and goes to bed, but she wakes at dawn with a strong sense that something is wrong.

The next morning, Ophelia finds a letter on the entryway table addressed to her in Genevieve’s handwriting. In it, Genevieve explains that she left in secret because Ophelia would have tried to stop her, and says she is trying to secure Ophelia’s future after seeing how hopeless things had become. Genevieve promises to return within two weeks and asks to bear the burden herself, which makes Ophelia realize her accusation pushed Genevieve into action.

Ophelia rushes to Genevieve’s room and confirms that Genevieve is truly gone by noticing missing luggage and jewelry. She tears the room apart for clues and eventually finds a hidden diary, an unfamiliar brooch, and a wad of cash beneath a closet floorboard. Reading the diary, Ophelia learns that Genevieve had been hiding letters and investigating secrets connected to Tessie, apparently to protect Ophelia from more pressure.

When Ophelia throws the diary in frustration, newspaper clippings fall out. They are all about Phantasma, its deaths, its Devil host, and past contestants, proving Genevieve has been researching the deadly competition for years. One clipping has the words Find Gabriel written in the margin, and a later diary entry says Genevieve believed she was close to finding him. Realizing Genevieve’s disappearance is tied to Phantasma, Ophelia gathers the journal and begins packing, preparing to follow the trail herself.
