Feyre and Mor sit through an awkward tea while Lucien tries to reach Elain through their mating bond. In the next room, Amren continues training Nesta to sense and repair mental walls, hoping to awaken or discipline whatever power remains in her after being Made. Rhys and Cassian return from meeting Keir’s Darkbringer commanders, and Feyre learns that Day, Dawn, and Winter have agreed to attend a meeting of the High Lords, while Tarquin is still considering it.

The strained calm breaks when Elain feels Lucien tug on the bond and describes it as a thread tied to one of her ribs. Lucien apologizes, but before he can learn anything useful, Elain slips into another prophetic state and warns that “twin ravens are coming, one white and one black.” Nesta, protective and frustrated, takes Elain into the garden. Afterward, Lucien confirms that the bond is tangible and that he reached Elain’s end of it, but he sensed nothing beyond her presence. He then recognizes the High Lords’ letters and offers practical help in choosing a meeting place.

Two days later, Feyre trains with Azriel to learn how to fly, throwing herself from a high boulder toward a lake and repeatedly crashing into trees. During these lessons, Feyre reflects on the household’s other efforts: Amren and Nesta are still working in secret with Nesta’s mind and power, the court is still negotiating the High Lords’ summit, and Feyre has been researching both how to repair the wall and how to master the Ouroboros. What she finds about the mirror is grim: people who face it often go mad, there is no trick to claiming it, and the Weaver may be the only known being to have possessed it successfully. The research leaves Feyre considering whether she may need another way to win the Bone Carver’s aid.

After another painful crash, Azriel tends Feyre’s injuries and admits that he also learned to fly late and with fear. To encourage her, he tells the story of Nephelle, a slight Seraphim cartographer with a malformed wing who was dismissed as unfit for battle. During Miryam’s flight across the sea with her people, Nephelle alone turned back, carried the mortally wounded Miryam through collapsing waters and narrow rock passages, and saved her life. Azriel explains that Rhys, Cassian, and he call the lesson of that story the Nephelle Philosophy: what seems like a weakness may become a decisive strength, and the least likely person can change history. Inspired, Feyre chooses to keep training.

That night, Feyre returns to her room exhausted and badly bruised. Rhys gently helps her bathe, soothes her sore muscles and wings, and turns the care into intimacy that deepens the tenderness between them. In the quiet after, Feyre admits that she wishes for a life in which they could simply spend peaceful days together, and Rhys promises that one day they will.
