Carl, Donut, Katia, and Mongo ride to Transfer Station 131. On the train, they kill Zlurpies for experience, and Mongo reaches level 15, grows to a stable adult size, and gains a new jump-based Earthquake attack. At the station, the team notes the Desperado Club where Imani is supposed to meet them later, while Mordecai continues studying the rail map and believes he may be close to figuring out how to reach the stairwells.

Back in the saferoom, Carl and Katia bring food to Mordecai and find that Donut has let Mordecai spend upgrade coupons on the alchemy table. Mordecai has used the improved setup to craft two powerful healing brews that grant brief near-immortality with harsh potion-sickness penalties, two permanent constitution buff potions for Donut, and a batch of fragmenting potion balls that can deliver potions by impact. Donut drinks both constitution potions and gains a total of four permanent Constitution, while Mordecai explains that the throwable balls could become a major weapon once they have more supplies.

Carl also uses a Determine Value skill potion and learns more about the rarity of his inventory, confirming that the stuffed Kimaris figure is unique. Then the fan boxes arrive. Donut opens hers first and receives an enchanted Mongoliensis saddle that lets her ride Mongo, boosts her spell damage, and increases Mongo’s Constitution and melee damage while she is mounted. The gift is tactically useful, but Mongo hates the saddle and the group realizes Donut will need training if she is going to fight from his back.

Carl opens his Platinum fan box and triggers a live Prize Carousel segment hosted by an NPC named Chaco. Mordecai instantly recognizes Chaco and violently attacks him, but the saferoom rules stop the strike and punish Mordecai with a seven-day timeout, removing him just when the team most needs his judgment. Chaco refuses to fully explain the past, though he implies he wronged Mordecai under orders connected to Odette and deeply regrets it. With a countdown running and no help from Mordecai, Carl must choose one of nine prizes, including potions, bombs, books, a motorcycle from Carl’s past, a trap book, magical chaps, a possible stat potion, and Carl’s old tool chest.

Shaken by the appearance of personal items from Earth and uncertain which option is best, Carl notices an anarchy-marked book that seems potentially important to his class and selects prize six. The item turns out to be a unique book called The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook, which Chaco dismisses as a worthless recipe collection. After Chaco leaves and Donut complains that Carl should have taken the chaps, Carl opens the book and sees hidden text appear when his Escape Plan skill activates. The message reveals that the book is special and promises that, together with Carl, it will burn everything to the ground.
