Hunt is immediately suspicious because the Asteri rarely act without motive, and Fury and Juniper join the discussion, suggesting Celestina may be a puppet meant to help the Asteri control Valbara and redirect troops toward the worsening war in Pangera.

Bryce urges Hunt not to assume the worst before meeting Celestina, even as she acknowledges the danger behind any Asteri decision. She reminds Hunt that he is now a free male who does not have to obey an Archangel unless he chooses to remain in service, and she lightly but sincerely promises to protect him with her Starborn power.
