The place feels welcomed by the stone itself because Kaan treated it with care, asking Bulder's permission before carving out their living space. That respect helps the refuge feel like a true home rather than a hiding place.

Within that shelter, Raeve/Elluin and Kaan live in a protected, intimate rhythm. They share meals, Kaan plays music, and Raeve/Elluin sings of The Shade and of her fallen family, keeping memory and grief beside love. Their nights end in physical closeness and sleep together, and Raeve/Elluin recognizes that they are living inside a fragile bubble where the outside world feels temporarily unable to reach them.

Raeve/Elluin then recalls a decisive act from Kaan during their last slumber together. Kaan knelt before her, removed his necklace, and offered it as his málmr. He explained that he had traveled all the way to Gondragh to gather a shed scale from Ahra, the Great Silver Sabersythe, because a dream had convinced him that without earning that piece, he would be unworthy of their love and too weak to face the major trials still ahead.

Because Kaan survived that journey and completed the necklace, the málmr becomes a symbol of devotion, endurance, and hope for Raeve/Elluin. She clings to it even when they are apart, pouring her love into it and praying that the Creators will let them keep what they have built. The memory ends not in security but in dread, as Raeve/Elluin admits that after so much loss, the thought of losing Kaan too is almost unbearable.
