In a tree rooted into the cliffside, Raeve finds a hidden compartment containing a small stone carving of Kaan’s málmr, a Moonplume and Sabersythe joined together, and the discovery pushes her deeper into the jungle.

Following a path she cannot physically see but somehow feels with certainty, Raeve reaches a vine-covered cliff and searches for an entrance. Remembering how Kaan concealed spaces in his private garden, she tests the foliage and accidentally passes through a hidden opening into a tunnel. The passage leads to a small, dust-covered dwelling built into the stone, with stairs, flowering copper vines, a cooking space, mugs, a table for two, writing supplies, and shelves of stone carvings that match the one she found outside.

As Raeve examines the rooms, the details suggest a private domestic life shared by two people. She notices the damaged chair, the blank leather-bound book, and the collection of carved figures, and she briefly concludes that she has stumbled into the relic of another couple’s love. The thought unsettles her enough that she decides she should leave, but Clode directly calls to her and urges her onward.

Though Raeve distrusts Clode’s instincts, she listens for Bulder’s steadier song and hears only warmth and peace, so she climbs higher. At the top she enters a chamber centered around a large circular bed, with walls embossed in battling Moonplumes and Sabersythes like the chamber that held Kaan’s reconstructed moon. There Raeve is struck by a vivid memory of herself as Elluin on the bed with Kaan, full of desire and love, and the vision ends with absolute clarity: the hidden home is not someone else’s. It was hers and Kaan’s, and the discovery shatters her remaining denial.
