Stuck in slow traffic on Evropská, CIA operative Greg Finch estimates he is still thirty minutes from Ambassador Heide Nagel’s residence and assumes Nagel is currently hosting Robert Langdon and Katherine Solomon. Finch reflects on Nagel’s usefulness in Prague despite her resentment over being framed into cooperation, and recalls insisting she use Michael Harris to keep Sasha Vesna under surveillance, describing Sasha as a valuable “investment.”

Finch receives a Signal call from CIA Director Director Judd, who bluntly says the call will not be pleasant: Nagel has discovered that Finch framed her for the incriminating documents and is now threatening to go public with everything she knows about the project. Finch dismisses the outrage, arguing Nagel has been rewarded with an ambassadorship and that his methods are necessary for winning.

Judd warns Finch that Nagel claims to have detailed proof and has sent a video to Langley; Judd is going in to see it. Finch insists Nagel must be bluffing because she “knows nothing,” but Judd counters that Nagel, as former CIA general counsel, does not bluff and that any leak would be catastrophic.

When Finch inadvertently reveals he is in Prague, Judd infers Finch already knew trouble was brewing. Judd ends the call with a threat: if anything happens to Heide Nagel, Judd will ensure Finch pays “for everything.”

Shaken, Finch immediately tries calling Nagel, but the call goes straight to voicemail. He then calls Field Officer Housemore at Crucifix Bastion, but her line also goes to voicemail repeatedly, which Finch finds alarming given her usual responsiveness. Concluding something is wrong, Finch orders his driver to change course and take him directly to Crucifix Bastion instead of the ambassador’s residence.
