Dana Daněk goes to the Four Seasons, drawn by the scent of roses and convinced Michael Harris is there. She flashes her U.S. embassy ID to the desk clerk and learns Harris is in the Royal Suite, then heads upstairs and uses a fake “Housekeeping” call to get the door opened.

When a petite woman from the bridge cracks the door, Dana forces her way in and searches the suite for Harris. The bedroom and bath are empty, and the room looks ransacked—drawers, suitcases, and even the safe left open—suggesting someone has been searching it.

Dana returns to the living room to find the woman aiming a handgun at her forehead. Dana demands Michael Harris, but the woman insists he is gone and orders Dana to leave, warning Dana to speak to her ambassador before mentioning anything about the bridge or the “crown of thorns.” The woman says Harris only delivered a room key for her access and then left.

After Dana leaves, the armed woman—Field Officer Susan Housemore—holsters her weapon and places a secure call to Mr. Finch in London.

Elsewhere, Michael Harris rides to Crucifix Bastion, relieved to be done with the ambassador’s strange errand at the hotel. He finds the lab door shattered and an injured ÚZSI lieutenant stumbling out, claiming “Katherine Solomon” struck him; Harris realizes it could only have been Sasha Vesna. The lieutenant says Robert Langdon fled with her, and at the ridgeline they find Captain Janáček’s phone and then Janáček’s body broken on the rocks far below, with blood staining the snow.
