Chapter 46: Helldiver
Contains spoilersOverview
Darrow evacuates the Pax’s bridge crew, then turns Roque’s boarding strategy against him by riding retrofitted mining clawDrills through the Pax and into Roque’s flagship, the Colossus. Victra, Sefi, Holiday, and thousands of Valkyrie surge through the breach to seize interior ground before defenders can mass.
The maneuver flips the battle’s momentum, isolates Roque’s command ship, and sets up a brutal close-quarters fight that could decide the fleet engagement.
Summary
Darrow orders the Blues off the Pax on armored shuttles while he and Victra stay behind. As Roque’s leechCraft swarm the ship, Victra leaves a mine to bloody the boarding parties. In the auxiliary hangar, Holiday, Sefi, Valkyrie shock troops, Reds, Grays, and a cadre of Helldivers assemble for a counter-boarding strike.
Darrow’s plan is to alter the paradigm: use retrofitted clawDrills to bore through the Pax and launch directly at Roque’s capital ships. He pilots a drill himself, mocking Gold platitudes as he plunges through decks and erupts into space. Under heavy fire, a railgun slug nearly kills him, but Blues on Orion’s ship slave the thrusters and set him down on the Colossus’s hull.
Darrow drills into the Colossus, carving a long tunnel through multiple decks and venting compartments to space before the rig fails. In the vacuum he encounters a traumatized young Gray who raises a weapon; Darrow kills him and regains his focus as gravity restores. Above, Victra leads assault shuttles into the tunnel, blasting past ripWings.
Holiday’s team sets a thermal drill and pulseBubble on the sealed bulkhead as Valkyrie pour in. Victra reports enemy response teams inbound, but most of Roque’s fifteen thousand boarders are already buried in the Pax, leaving the Colossus under-defended against Darrow’s three thousand Obsidians. Across the broader battle, Orion and the Moon Lords burn for Jupiter, Mustang’s flagship is pressured by Roque, Antonia hunts other allies, and Sevro still waits in ambush.
Darrow orders full shields, strict rules of engagement—kill only those bearing weapons—and demands a path to the objective. Sefi steels her Valkyrie with war chants and god’s bread. As the breach nears, the Obsidians bellow “Hyrg la, Ragnar,” and Darrow embraces the mask of the Reaper, ready to unleash hell inside Roque’s flagship.
