At A&E, a triage doctor recognizes Gene from a recent dog-bite visit. With Jensen’s support, Gene is assessed and diagnosed with a bad sprain rather than a break, prescribed rest and mild painkillers, and discharged. During the drive home, Gene praises the staff while Lila texts her daughters and simmers in silence.

Back at the house, Bill is obsessively cleaning. Bill and Gene immediately trade accusations about the earlier chase and fall—arguing over whether a carving knife or a metal spatula was involved—until Lila slams down her bag and erupts. She declares she is done mediating their decades-old feud, sets a boundary that they must find a peaceful way to coexist or both leave, and tells them they will babysit while she goes out to finish her interrupted drink. Jensen, surprised, agrees to take her.

In the truck, Lila asks Jensen for alcohol, and they stop at a late-night shop where she buys vodka and tonic while Jensen gets no-alcohol beer. Passing Bill and Francesca’s old bungalow in heavy rain triggers Lila’s grief.
