Not Glamorous Work
Contains spoilersOverview
Stranded with a damaged camper, Cameron accepts Ethan’s help and pursues work. His embellished application nearly sinks an interview, but aquarium staffer Terry Bailey hires him for basic maintenance and temporary evening cleaning while Tova recovers.
A call with Brinks Development reveals Simon Brinks may be at a nearby summer home, redirecting Cameron’s search.
Summary
At Ethan’s kitchen table, Cameron relaxes after Ethan arranges a free tow for his camper and lets him park in the driveway. Seeking cash to fix the flat and repay Aunt Jeanne, Cameron asks about work. Ethan can’t hire at the Shop-Way but offers a lead and an application for a maintenance job elsewhere; the two jokingly embellish Cameron’s credentials.
The next morning at the aquarium, Cameron overhears Terry Bailey urging Tova to take several weeks off and detailing cleaning standards. During the interview, Terry spots Cameron’s obvious fabrications about SeaWorld and Mandalay Bay and tries to dismiss him. Cameron admits the lies, cites construction experience, and pleads for a chance. Terry, recalling chances others gave him and humored by a poker debt to Ethan, relents.
Terry hires Cameron at $20 per hour for about twenty hours weekly to chop bait and clean buckets. When Cameron asks for more hours, Terry offers temporary evening cleaning to cover the regular cleaner’s absence while Tova recovers. Terry warns Cameron not to let Ethan down, and Cameron agrees.
Waiting on the pier, Cameron receives a key card—his first sign of employer trust—and texts a photo to Aunt Jeanne. John Hall from Brinks Development finally returns his calls, refuses an appointment with Simon Brinks, and notes Brinks often stays at a summer home this time of year without giving an address. Cameron ends the day with a lead but no location, while Aunt Jeanne replies with encouragement.
