Summary
- Gorth enters the grand hall of the club and storms into the gaming room
- Gorth asks where Struan is and is told he is in the bar
- Gorth goes to the bar and confronts Struan
- Gorth asks where Tess is and Struan warns him not to call Tess a derogatory name
- Gorth accuses Struan of planning for Culum and Tess to run away together
- Struan accuses Gorth of being the one behind Culum's actions
- Gorth strikes Struan with his whip and asks if Tess and Culum ran away together and if they were married
- Gorth threatens to fight Struan and then Culum
- Struan offers to fight Gorth with swords or pistols, Gorth chooses swords
- A candle stand is knocked over and starts a fire, which is quickly put out
- Struan says he will send his seconds that night to arrange the duel
- Struan leaves the bar and goes to his home
