- Struan is interrupted by the arrival of Maureen Quance and her family, who have been invited to the party by Cuhady.
- Struan is concerned about the presence of Aristteles Quance, who is hiding from his angry wife.
- Struan sees Quance and tries to speak to him, but Quance runs away.
- Struan goes to the dance floor and sees Shevaun Tillman, who is angry that she did not win a prize.
- Struan asks Shevaun to dance and she agrees, but continues to complain about not winning a prize.
- Struan sees May-May on the dance floor and goes to talk to her.
- May-May is angry with Struan for not paying more attention to her and for dancing with Shevaun.
