Summary
- Struan sees a lorcha sailing towards the Happy Valley dock during a typhoon in Hong Kong
- The lorcha's mast is destroyed by a gust of wind, but the ship remains afloat and makes it to the dock
- Struan and the other sailors help tie the lorcha to the dock and all the passengers make it to the Noble House building
- Inside, Struan finds Horatio and Monsey and offers them food and drink, as well as the lorcha's captain
- The lieutenant arrives and asks why they were on the lorcha in such bad weather, to which Struan replies that they were trying to get to Hong Kong
- May-May arrives and Struan asks her why she was not at the Tai Ping Shan, to which she replies that she stayed behind to protect their home
- The Boston Princess ship is sinking in the typhoon and Cooper holds onto Shevaun
- The ship is washed ashore and Cooper breaks his leg, but Shevaun finds him
- The White Witch ship is also struggling in the typhoon and Brock tries to cut the ropes on the mast, but the mast breaks and falls onto the deck
- Sergeyev on the Russian ship decides to leave Hong Kong and make a deal with the Tai-Pan or Brock, and also considers marrying Shevaun
- Cooper and Shevaun are on the shore and Shevaun finds Gordon Chen's underground bunker filled with valuable items
- Shevaun decides to stay with Cooper.
