Josh wakes in Aly's bed to a security alarm he'd installed, alerting him that someone has covered her back door camera. Panicking briefly when his balaclava slips, he grabs Aly's gun, refuses her suggestion to call the cops, and orders her to stay in the bedroom with Fred. Before leaving, he finally kisses her—an overwhelming first kiss that solidifies his feelings.

Josh ambushes the intruder at the door, knocking him out with a single punch. Aly disobeys and emerges with her gun. When Josh removes the man's mask, it's Bradley Bluhm, carrying a backpack stocked as a kill kit—rope, chloroform, knife, bleach, zip ties—confirming he came to rape and murder Aly. Aly stomps and punches Brad in fury; Josh restrains her from shooting him to avoid alerting neighbors.

Josh proposes dumping Brad at the farm of his last victim, Macy Harold, whose ex-military father, husband, and brother could finish him. He briefly recalls finding one of his serial-killer father's victims as a child. He and Aly hogtie Brad with his own rope, gag him with duct tape, dose him with his own chloroform, and stuff him in Aly's snowboard bag. Josh increasingly drops his disguised voice, anticipating an inevitable identity reveal.

Using a mini-blackout to kill the streetlights, they load Brad into Josh's trunk and drive into the countryside. Josh shares what he learned about Macy and her family. Arriving at the farm's wooded approach, Aly stops Josh from unzipping the bag—she's checked Brad's pulse. The duct tape covered both his mouth and nose; he suffocated and is dead. Josh vomits in the bushes, horrified at having killed a man, while Aly comforts him and jokes that she was right about his identity, asking for a raincheck on sex until after they dispose of the body.
