Josh and Aly join Junior and a six-man professional crew in a power company van for the stealth break-in at Brad's gated-community home. Junior reassures Aly about lookouts and escape plans while Josh masks his nerves with jokes, suspecting the mob could scapegoat him but accepting the risk to wipe Aly's traces from Brad's computer. They mic up and roll out.

The operation hits multiple snags: Brad's generator keeps the security system live, requiring remote disarming; floodlights tied to the generator force them to use a jammer; and the lead man trips into shrubbery. Once inside, the crew is hit by the stench of decomposing bodies. Two cat-litter piles in the basement are revealed to be covering corpses, and Josh's casual knowledge about decomp covers makes the leader suspicious. Fearing a full forensic sweep, the leader aborts and orders everyone out.

Josh refuses to leave without wiping Aly from Brad's computer. Aly kicks Junior in the groin, escapes the van, and joins Josh outside the house. Josh threatens the crew not to touch her, then locates Brad's bedroom while running his password-cracking AI and Brick Layer software on the computer. Brad's parents, Vivian and her husband, arrive and head straight for the office, intent on destroying evidence to cover for their son.

Josh barricades the door with a chair and candelabra and physically pinches the lock to stop them from opening it with a key while he completes a full backup of Brad's drives onto a thumb drive. After they leave to find another key, he wipes his tracks, escapes out the window, crashes painfully through the pergola, and reunites with Aly.

Before fleeing, Josh smashes the French doors with a deck chair to trigger the reactivated alarm, knowing state law lets responding police enter without a warrant if they suspect a crime in progress, ensuring they'll discover the bodies and end the Bluhms. Aly praises him as a genius, and they flee into the woods, leaving footprints behind.
