Three weeks after Brad's death, Josh and Aly arrive at Nico and Moira's house for a family dinner. Josh, dressed formally and uncomfortable with attention, is welcomed warmly by Moira, Nico's sharp-witted Irish wife. Aly reveals she previously confronted Nico over the tracker he'd planted on Josh's car and threatened to expose him to the police if he turned on Josh.

During pre-dinner drinks, Aly pushes Nico for information about the investigation, but he insists business waits until after the meal. Josh quietly observes the family, reflecting on how their wealth comes from disposing of victims for the mob and questioning whether Nico has sociopathic traits, contrasting him with Josh's own abusive father.

After dinner, Nico and Junior brief Josh and Aly in the office: no trace of them was found at Brad's house. The undersized shoes Josh wore matched Brad's size, leading police to believe Brad and an accomplice were responsible. Brad's phone shows he was hunting Aly's coworker Erica too. A twenty-person FBI/police task force is now investigating Brad as a serial killer of sex workers, and Nico plans staged sightings of Brad in Canada to keep him presumed alive.

When Nico carelessly references Josh's father's victims, Aly shuts him down. As they leave, Nico tries to intimidate Josh, refusing to shake his hand and threatening him about hurting Aly. Josh counters by revealing he recorded their entire earlier conversation, demonstrates control over the house's electronics by flickering the lights and triggering the alarm, and coldly warns Nico that he'd dismantle the organization if threatened. Recognizing Josh's capability, Nico reluctantly shakes his hand.

In the car, Aly realizes Josh threatened her uncle and worries about the risk, but Josh assures her Nico is too smart to start a war. They flirt about a planned mountain getaway and Josh's masktok content. Finally, Josh tells Aly he loves her; she reveals he's been saying it in his sleep for a week and returns the sentiment, agreeing they'd flee the country together if necessary.
