Overview

Evie returns to the motel and overhears Ryan secretly meeting George, confirming Ryan’s involvement with her handler. Ryan receives papers and voices concern about information circulating and Friday’s timing. Evie hides her discovery, plays the devoted girlfriend, and agrees to go to Atlanta to prepare with Rachel.

Summary

Late afternoon, Evie arrives at the motel to find Ryan anxious but affectionate. He says Rachel will be in Atlanta tomorrow and suggests they leave early so Evie can prepare for Friday’s interview. While Ryan goes for pizza, Evie heads toward the vending machines for pain reliever.

Hearing the words “Atlanta” and “Amy Holder,” Evie stops and listens. A text to Ryan pings from the same area, revealing he is the one nearby. She overhears Ryan talking with George about timing for tomorrow and Ryan’s discomfort with “all that information out there.” George hands Ryan papers.

Evie slips back to the room, fields Ryan’s concerned call, and feigns being spooked by a janitor. When Ryan returns, she spots the papers in his back pocket, confirming the meeting. In the shower, she processes the betrayal, allows herself brief grief, and resolves to maintain her cover.

Evie returns to small talk and eats pizza despite nausea, noting the papers are no longer in Ryan’s pocket. In bed, Ryan is tender but guarded. Evie deflects his invitation to talk, keeps her discovery hidden, and agrees to the plan to head to Atlanta to meet Rachel and prepare for Friday.
