In Philadelphia, Ilya Rozanov antagonizes an opposing player along the boards until the referee warns him off. As Ilya returns to the bench, the crowd and an opposing defenseman hurl insults at him, including a homophobic slur; Ilya brushes it off and takes perverse satisfaction in being hated on the road.

Sitting beside veteran teammate Brad Hammersmith, Ilya watches the arena screens show a highlight from Montreal vs. Ottawa: Shane Hollander scores with his trademark precision and celebrates. The sight makes Ilya unexpectedly pleased—and instantly competitive—so Ilya decides he needs to score two goals that night to answer Shane.

In Montreal, Shane visits the Biodome with his best friend and teammate Hayden Pike, who is wrangling his young children. Hayden announces that his wife, Jackie, is pregnant again, and Shane congratulates him while teasing him about already having three kids.

Later, in Washington, Ilya lounges in his hotel room browsing a new Audi before hearing Shane’s name on ESPN. He watches a “wholesome” segment about Shane’s lake cottage and yoga, grows jealous imagining Shane’s private life, and admits to himself that each hookup has only made him want more—an attraction he knows is dangerous.
