Jet passes the cemetery, thinking about death, her sister Emily’s grave, and how close Jet might be to joining her. At a crossroads she turns onto a side road toward town, moving through a darker stretch of trees toward Middle Covered Bridge, where she hears rustling behind her but realizes she feels no fear anymore.

Back at Billy’s apartment, Billy confronts Jet for disappearing without a phone and admits he was scared for her safety. Jet updates Billy on the police: they are investigating the fraudulent loan and are “not ruling anything out.”

Jet then reveals a detail Billy’s father shared privately: forensics found a hair under Jet’s blood, likely from the attacker, and it is a synthetic red costume wig hair. Jet and Billy realize this doesn’t only point to JJ; it may also point to Billy’s neighbor Andrew Smith, who wore a red wig as a clown at the Halloween fair.

To confirm costumes without alerting a suspect, Jet decides not to confront Andrew and instead remembers that Owen Clay took official photos at the fair. Jet plans to visit Owen in the morning, but Billy notices Jet’s bandage is leaking and changes Jet’s dressing. Before sleep, Jet invites Billy to come with her to talk to Owen, and Billy agrees.
