He sees Beth leave in a rideshare and follows her to La Fleur, a special-occasion restaurant from their past. Inside, he spots Beth dining intimately with a well-groomed man and watches from the bar, jealousy flaring even as his upgraded cognition urges restraint.

When Beth’s date goes to the restroom, Logan starts toward her table, but the conflict between old impulse and new clarity stops him. Recognizing he is a danger to Beth and their daughter and no longer what they need, he pivots away and slips out without revealing himself.

Back in the car, Logan prepares the procedure: eight labeled syringes for pressurized, hydrodynamic delivery of systemic edits, and a nasal inhaler to send nanoparticles across the blood-brain barrier later at the Mandarin Oriental. As he readies the first injection, he sees Beth leave with her date, smiling and ringless, and hears her laugh, reflecting on human connection and his growing separation from it.

Choosing mission over personal longing, Logan rejects the pull of his old self and commits. He inserts the needle and begins the upgrade, planning to huff the brain-targeted nanoparticles afterward, fully embracing the path ahead.
