After poisoning Grimaldi, Carl decides the original plan is too dangerous and contacts Zev with a new demand. Carl publicly tells the producers of Vengeance of the Daughter that he understands their setup: if Grimaldi dies, chaos will likely let Signet enter the tent, but Carl will probably die in the process. Carl threatens to heal Grimaldi and ruin the show unless the producers promise him an exclusive deal for future elite quests tied to their storyline, and they agree.

With the deal secured, Carl cuts his hand again and gives Grimaldi healthy blood, undoing the poison. Carl then commits to a riskier plan by finally learning the Wisp Armor spell, using a mana potion to cast it, and approaching Apollon for one of the circus ice cream cones. Carl eats the cone, deliberately infecting himself with the parasite so he can become mentally linked to Grimaldi while relying on Wisp Armor to block the infestation’s mind control for a few minutes.

As the parasites and then Grimaldi begin speaking in Carl’s mind, Carl stumbles out of the tent and finds Signet waiting outside. Signet is ready to kill Carl once she realizes he is infected, but Carl stops her long enough to explain that Grimaldi can hear everything through him. Carl argues that Grimaldi and Signet are both trying to protect the same family in different ways, and that Grimaldi’s attempt to preserve the circus has only trapped the clowns in monstrous suffering and kept Signet from the work she must do in the Hunting Grounds.

Carl appeals to Grimaldi by tying the circus’s tragedy to his own desire to protect Donut and Mongo, and by insisting that true kindness now means letting the family go. As Carl’s resistance and Wisp Armor run out, he prepares Mordecai’s anti-parasite potion. Grimaldi finally yields and, through Carl, declares that Signet has been un-banished. Carl drinks the potion, vomits out the dead worms, and Signet enters the tent after telling Carl that Donut will wake at sunrise.

Outside, Carl reflects on his mother, on the trees the circus once gave children, and on the idea that small acts can grow into something larger. Carl accepts that he has given up the chance to solo-kill a city boss, but believes he has accomplished something more important by changing the course of the circus story. The quest completes, Carl gains several achievements and rises from level 15 to 18, but the moment of relief vanishes when Carl realizes Zev mentioned two simultaneous dramas and Mordecai urgently reports that Donut’s health has fallen below 20 percent.
