Demon drives Maggot and a meth-fueled Hammer into Scott County during a storm, following directions to Devil’s Bathtub where Fast Forward is supposedly hiding. Hammer, carrying a rifle and drinking, is determined to confront Fast Forward over Emmy and the disrespect he showed her. Demon increasingly suspects Rose Dartell’s tip might be a setup meant to lure Demon into a confrontation.

After finding Fast Forward’s Lariat parked near the trail, the three hike in and begin repeated, dangerous creek crossings swollen into flash-flood conditions. Demon’s injured knee worsens, slowing him down and heightening his fear as Hammer and Maggot push ahead. Demon encounters two shirtless former “General” guys who confirm Fast Forward and Big Bear are still at the waterfall, with Fast Forward recklessly climbing and showing off.

Demon reaches Devil’s Bathtub to find Hammer screaming insults up at Fast Forward, who stands naked high above on a cliff near an upper waterfall. Hammer’s rage escalates after Fast Forward trash-talks Emmy. Demon tries to calm Hammer, but the roar of water and thunder swallows Demon’s voice as Hammer shifts and raises the rifle.

Big Bear appears and screams a warning to Fast Forward to drop, and the sudden jolt makes Fast Forward turn and lose footing on the wet rock. Fast Forward tries to recover, then dives and slams onto rock with a fatal impact. Hammer, horrified and refusing to “let a man die,” charges into the torrent to reach Fast Forward and is quickly swept under by the violent current.

Maggot and Big Bear run for help, leaving Demon behind with the bodies. Demon kicks Hammer’s rifle into the Bathtub to remove the weapon from the scene, then drags Hammer onto drier ground and tries to preserve Hammer’s face for the family to see. Demon sits with Hammer and Fast Forward’s bodies on the ledge, overwhelmed by grief, guilt, and the belief that Demon should have been the one to go into the water.
