In the days after Rose is taken to the hospital, the girls at Wellwood turn her into a legend, imagining her as unstoppable and strong. Diane Keller and Mrs. Deckle take the girls to town for Fourth of July fireworks, and Jasmine points out Flagler Hospital, insisting Rose and Blossom are watching from inside. Back at Wellwood, the girls wait obsessively for Rose’s return, eager to see a baby and reassured by the idea that Rose can’t be controlled.

On Tuesday, Iris sees Nurse Kent sneak Rose down the path into the Barn instead of bringing her back openly. Nurse Kent refuses Fern’s request to visit, and the girls spend their shift watching the Barn until Hagar threatens them back to work. That night, Holly produces a plain silver house key she stole because “no one pays attention” to her, and Fern uses it after lights out to slip outside and cross the yard toward the Barn.

Fern finds Decima waiting under the trees, unnervingly still, and locates Rose’s room by the only window with an air conditioner. After Fern knocks, Rose abruptly pulls her inside the Barn’s reception area and, under a desk lamp, reveals the truth: Blossom is gone. Rose explains that hospital staff treated Rose’s desire to keep her baby as proof of irrationality, threatened to put Rose on the locked ward, and said a judge could declare Rose incompetent if Rose didn’t sign adoption papers. Terrified by what Rose witnesses on the ward and by the prospect of being drugged and trapped, Rose signs, then is denied even a last goodbye to Blossom.

Fern reacts with disbelief and anger, asking Rose how she could do it, but Rose breaks down, admitting fear and self-loathing, even slapping herself for crying. Fern offers hope—Fern has Miss Parcae’s spellbook and Decima is outside—but Rose forces Fern to confront the larger trap: even if they reclaimed Blossom, Rose has nowhere safe to go and no power against the adults who control them. Rose concludes they cannot protect any of their babies, including Holly’s.

Still, Rose turns despair into vengeance, asking Fern to help hurt “Wellwood’s little soldiers” and to come with her to see the witch. Rose and Fern follow Decima into the woods, with Fern sensing they are being watched and hearing an approaching vehicle and music. They emerge into a clearing where a group of people sits around a campfire; a massive woman stands and demands to know what they are doing there, and Fern realizes Fern is holding a rifle.
