Fern, Ginger, and Jasmine watch a late-night sci-fi movie in Ginger’s room while Fern tries to convince herself she can go home Monday and forget Wellwood, Miss Parcae, and everyone’s trouble. She falls asleep clutching her warded pouch, determined not to get involved anymore.

Zinnia wakes Fern in the night, begging for help: Holly has hidden in Rose’s old attic room and won’t answer. Fern reluctantly goes upstairs and finds Holly under the bed in active labor, terrified and in pain. Holly refuses Nurse Kent and pleads for Zinnia and Hagar, afraid the hospital will send her home and put her and the baby back in danger.

Downstairs, Fern insists they must get Nurse Kent, but Zinnia pushes a plan to take Holly to Hagar instead, arguing they can’t let “that man” get Holly’s baby. Nurse Kent prepares for an emergency hospital trip, sends Fern for her bag and taxi vouchers, and carries Holly downstairs while other girls report separate problems (Iris “breathing funny,” Willow bleeding). With multiple crises competing, Nurse Kent tells Fern and Zinnia to get Holly into the cab while Nurse Kent checks on the others.

Outside, Zinnia reveals she has the vouchers and tries to hijack the ride; Fern gets in the cab to prevent that and orders the driver, Darius, to go to the hospital. As Holly worsens, Fern tries to protect her by slipping Fern’s father’s wedding ring onto Holly’s finger so she will be treated better. Zinnia then asks Darius if he knows Hagar Sunday; with Fern’s reluctant, strategic lie that they were told to pick up an adult to check them in, they pressure Darius into detouring.

Darius drives them to Hagar’s home, where Hagar and her sister Miriam are outside. Hagar angrily insists Holly needs a doctor and refuses at first, but after checking Holly she turns grim and orders them to get Holly inside immediately. Hagar instructs Darius to drive on and turn in the voucher so no one at Wellwood will notice, while Fern and Miriam carry Holly into the house as labor peaks.
