In Chapter 37 of Catch-22, General Peckem becomes the head of General Dreedle's former operation, but his victory is short-lived when he discovers that Scheisskopf has been promoted to lieutenant general and now has control over all combat operations, including General Peckem's group. Scheisskopf wants all the men to march in parades.
