From Imogen’s viewpoint, Glane climbs through storm and chaos over Draithus toward three wyvern attacking Cuir, where Bodhi rides. Imogen reflects that losing both Bodhi and Xaden would doom Tyrrendor’s leadership, and she curses the storm, the wyvern horde, and ground orders. Supplies of alloy-hilted weapons are running low; they have sent for more, likely through Felix, who must be nearing burnout. Imogen resolves to hold out and hopes Violet Sorrengail can stop the storm.

Glane executes brutal aerial maneuvers, killing multiple wyvern as Imogen fights from the saddle and even runs up Glane’s neck to stab a wyvern through the eye. Cuir is wounded but flying; Cath and Dain Aetos also engage nearby. As venin appear on the walls and atop a spiral tower, Imogen sees a dark wielder in purple and another in crimson converging on the turret below the armory, where Quinn oversees weapons. Imogen decides to dismount onto the northern wall to defend the tower despite orders.

Racing along the wall with Aetos, Imogen confronts a venin who unleashes a stream of fire. Imogen channels Glane’s power to transform Aetos’s shield into stone, blocking the blast. Aetos and Imogen then kill the venin. Imogen spots another venin in crimson on the eastern wall and a venin in purple slipping into the turret; Aetos runs to intercept the one on the wall while Imogen charges into the tower.

Inside the stairwell, Imogen finds projections of Quinn distracting a pale-haired venin while the real Quinn closes in. Imogen throws her dagger as Quinn strikes, and together they kill the venin; however, Imogen realizes Quinn has been stabbed in the chest by the venin’s green-tipped dagger. Imogen catches Quinn as she collapses and, amid roaring battle outside, tries to reassure her while calling for help.

Quinn, aware there are no menders or runes that can fix the wound, asks Imogen to tell Jax she loves her and to deliver messages to her parents. Imogen promises, comforts Quinn about meeting Imogen’s deceased family, and professes her love. Quinn dies in Imogen’s arms. Imogen’s grief freezes her until Garrick arrives, urging retreat because venin are draining the city walls, which threatens to drain anyone nearby.

Garrick teleports Imogen and Quinn’s body to a nearby building where Professor Trissa and Felix are beginning to weave with imbued weapons, though they lack sufficient power. Outside, the city burns and bodies litter rooftops; Bodhi vomits in the square; Cruth drags a wyvern from the sky. Garrick, too depleted to teleport far, returns to the fight to contribute somehow.

Imogen, recognizing the imminent threat of the venin’s city-draining, orders Glane to summon every rider within the walls to the armory to disarm, so their alloy-hilted, imbued weapons can be used to power the weavers’ defenses. As the sky darkens further, she resolves that Violet must take down the venin leader or their sacrifices will be for nothing.
