It notices Mensah has requested that it report to her, cleans itself up, and leaves its cubicle in a standard crew uniform because its armor is still being repaired. In the crew hub, the others do not recognize it without the helmet, and the reveal that it is their SecUnit makes everyone visibly uncomfortable.

Mensah asks the SecUnit to examine the planetary hazard report because Pin-Lee suspects something is wrong with it. While checking the data, the SecUnit detects broken formatting and confirms that a subreport has not merely been disconnected but deleted from the warnings and fauna sections. The team reacts with anger and alarm, because this means the survey package omitted crucial danger information, including data that might have warned them about the creature that attacked Bharadwaj.

As the group discusses what the missing data might mean, Arada and Mensah suggest the underground predator may explain the strange craters in the survey area. Pin-Lee asks whether the habitat system could have been hacked, and the SecUnit, hiding its own ability to hack internal systems, says damage to the survey package before delivery is more likely. Mensah assigns Gurathin and Pin-Lee to investigate further, tells everyone else to review the package for missing information in their specialties, and plans to ask the distant DeltFall survey team for any matching files. When Mensah awkwardly invites the SecUnit to remain in the crew area, it panics at the unwanted intimacy and retreats under the excuse of checking the perimeter.

Back in private, the SecUnit is unsettled that it exposed even a small part of itself by reacting honestly to the humans. It reminds itself that it has too much to hide and distracts itself by doing real security work: suiting up, checking the perimeter, reviewing terrain and seismic readings, and confirming the emergency supplies in both hoppers. Finding nothing changed outside the habitat, it eventually goes on standby and watches entertainment serials until Mensah sends more images from the survey package.

The new data reveals that six sections are missing from the planetary map. Mensah asks whether the omissions look like ordinary low-quality equipment failures or deliberate tampering, and the SecUnit replies that the package may simply be cheap but the only way to know is to visit one of the blank areas. After DeltFall agrees to send copies of the missing files, the PreservationAux team debates whether to wait or investigate immediately. Expecting the outcome, the SecUnit notes that security would ideally require it to scout alone, but its governor module prevents it from being more than one hundred meters from a client. When Mensah informs it that the team is going out, the SecUnit says security protocol means it should accompany them.
